Todd Holzer with a nice pike

Central Wisconsin Fishing Report – Phil Schweik

Well it looks like summer is finally here. Warm temperatures this past week have driven the water temperatures into the upper 70 degree range and with that the fishing has exploded. The musky bite has been very good as well as action for big pike. We have been seeing consistent action from walleyes, crappies, and even a few nice perch.

If you are looking for big fish, the bite for musky and pike has been going very strong this past week with action on top water baits, jerkbaits and bucktails. Most of the fish we have been catching have been holding around shoreline structure and areas with some current. Black and orange and Firetiger baits have been working well in the bucktails, and for the jerkbaits and topwater we have been running a variety of colors but it hasn’t seemed to matter. The Fat bastard from Lake X Lures has been a good one as well as Suick’s.

If you are looking for eaters then you are in luck as the walleyes and crappies have been tearing it up. This past week we had consistent action with the walleyes on jig and crawler combos and well as casting crankbaits near shoreline rock. The crappies have been holding near deep structure in 12 to 16 feet of water and slip bobbers with minnows have been doing the trick there.

Have a great week,
