Wisconson Fishing Report - Phil Schweik

Wisconsin Buzz Bite Report – Phil Schweik (Central)

by

What a fantastic week for fishing in Central Wisconsin. Water temperatures are right back around that 70 degree mark which is right where they need to be. The water levels high but they are clear and very fishable.

The walleye bite has been about as good as it can get. We have been catching a lot of nice fish in 4 to 8 feet of water by casting Rapala style crankbaits and by tossing jig and minnow combinations. Most of the activity has been associated around submerged structure like rocks and wood but we are seeing a few fish now roaming the flats and that’s where the crankbaits are really shining.

Musky fishing has been very good this past week with several nice fish caught on Bucktails and topwater baits. Most of the action has been early in the morning or later in the day up till dark.

If you are looking for action, bass fishing has been really good this past week. We had quite a bit of activity throwing spinner baits and jig and beaver combo’s to shoreline structure and submerged brush in 2 to 5 feet of water.

This past week has also been very good for catfish action. With the warming water temperature these feisty prowlers have really turned up their activity. Nighttime is the best time to target these night prowlers but they can be caught all day long. Target the deepest or fastest water available on a river system and run cut-bait like chicken livers or a simple gob of crawlers to attract their senses. The cats will find your presentation and you will be into a battle that you won’t soon forget.

Elk River Rods out of Phillips, Wisconsin is running a special promotion. All Elk River Rods are 20% off for the entire month of July. Elk River Rods are made and assembled right here in the U.S.A.

Have a great week,
