Avid angler Eric Labaupa with Kickerfish gives his latest Buzz Bite Report for Winnipeg Manitoba and the Red River on November 27th, 2021.

Winnipeg Manitoba Buzz Bite Report

Right now I am on the shores of the Red River in the middle of Selkirk, Manitoba just north of Winnipeg Manitoba. This fall a whole pile of giant green back walleye were caught on this stretch of the Red River.

As far as ice goes we are still a few weeks away. We’ve got some skim ice around the edges and out about twenty feet or so, but the main current channels are still wide open. As soon as it freezes solid the Red River is going to be the spot to be first ice for those big greenback walleyes.

There should be a real nice push of big walleyes during those first couple weeks.

Wherever you are across the ice belt please practice ice safety. You know it is not a race to see who can get out there first; we will have a winter to chase these fish so be careful!

As of right now it looks like we are a couple of weeks out, but it won’t be long before we are out there catching those monster greenbacks! Good luck to anyone who’s been able to get out ice fishing already and be safe!
