Tricking out your Snowmobile for Ice Fishing

Customizing your snowmobile is a great way to improve your efficiency when you are out there on the ice. It will help you stay more organized when traveling from spot to spot.

The first thing I would recommend adding to your snowmobile is an auger mount. If you don’t already have one, adding an auger mount saves you space in your ice house, and also helps to protect your auger and your other gear from damage.

The next piece of equipment I would add while tricking out your snowmobile for ice fishing is a GPS unit. This is probably the most important piece of equipment I have added to my sled. I have one mounted right above the handle bar. It easy to access and I can see exactly where I am going when I am on the move.

Now if you are an angler who likes to fish off of the snowmobile it may be worth it to mount your flasher unit onto the sled. I personal do a lot of fishing while sitting on my snowmobile and its nice to have that flasher already out and ready to go.

I also like to have my ice rods mounted on the sled as well. I have a rod rack that holds four to five rods and it allows me to be mobile and it saves me time.

Now if I were in an area that was heavily covered with trees and I did a lot fo riding on trails, I probably wouldn’t keep my rods on the mount. But since we don’t have that out here in the Dakotas its nice to have everything within an arms reach.

These are just a few things that help me be a more efficient ice angler and hopefully it will help you as well.
