The Red River channel catfish bite is on fire right now. The water temps just reach the low seventy degree mark and the big channel cats are really putting on the feed bag as they make their last push before the spawn.
The water levels are extremely low right now on the Red so use caution when traveling around.
The best baits have been fresh cut bait. Suckers and Goldeye are both working great just make sure it is fresh.
You don’t have to cut huge pieces, small two to three inch chunks will work fine.
Something we have been doing that’s really helped us put a lot of fish in the boat is to stay mobile.
We usually fish a spot for fifteen to twenty minutes. Catch the active fish out of the hole and then move along to the next one. Being mobile and staying on the move is really important this time of year.
If you guys are looking to get out and chase some of these giant channel cats the Red River has to offer, schedule a trip through my website or give me a call. Good luck and be safe out there on the water!
