Ottertail County Buzz Bite Report 7-6-2021

by

The fishing has been good over here in Ottertail County over the past week. We have been catching a lot of nice crappies.

A lot of people give up on these fish after the spring, but there is a great bite mid summer that you can capitalize on.

We have been slow trolling along the deep weed line with small crappie jigs and shad style plastics.

Look for tall green weeds, especially cabbage, in about seven to ten feet deep for the best numbers of fish. We have also been getting a few nice walleyes mixed in.

The when specifically targeting walleyes in the Ottertail County lakes focus on the main lake weed line and your classic main lake structure like rock plies and deep humps.

Livebait rigs are going to be your best option for walleyes. Focus on those low light periods during the early morning and later in the evening. The best depth has been in that ten to fifteen foot range.

The post-spawn bluegill bite is actually still pretty good over here in Ottertail County. We are finding those fish kind of in that ten to fourteen foot depth range. A simple rig with a bobber and worm or plastic will produce.

The largemouth bass bite has been really good over the past two weeks. Fishing anywhere from five to ten foot has been the best depth range for us. Using plastics and bass jigs along the weed line produced our most consistent bite.
