Northern Minnesota Buzz Bite Report 10-23-2021

by

The fishing has been fantastic across much over Northern Minnesota over the past few weeks. Leech lake, Lake Winnibigoshish and the Cass Lake area are all producing a lot of walleyes.

Let’s start with Leech lake. We have been catching a lot of nice eater sized walleyes in that sixteen to nineteen inch range with the occasional big fish. Windy days have been the best. Most of these fish have been coming out of five to ten feet of water.

On the calmer days the fish will slide out a bit deeper around thirteen to sixteen feet of water. Focus on those main lake points.

As far as presentations go a classic jig and a minnow presentation has been working great, but you can also catch fish Lindy rigging chubs or on Rapala Jigging Raps.

You can find some nice jumbo perch out in about twenty feet of water.

On Lake Winnibigoshish the walleye bite has been awesome, but the fish are running small. You will be able to catch a lot of fish, but a good number of them are going to be smaller than fourteen inches.

You can find some nice jumbo perch mixed in with these schools of smaller walleyes.

A jig paired with a fathead minnow will get the job done.

The Cass Lake area in Norther Minnesota has been similar to Leech. The fish are biting well and can be found shallow anywhere from six to sixteen feet of water. Minnow presentations have been the way to go.

Right now is a great time to take a trip to Northern Minnesota. The fishing will continue to be good for the next week or two so make sure to get up here and enjoy it!
