leech lake walleye

Leech Lake Buzz Bite Report 7-27-2021

by

Even with Leech Lakes water temps just under eighty degrees the walleye fishing continues to be good.

Anglers are still getting fish on crawlers, either by rigging or using spinners. Some fish are also being caught on Rapala Jigging Raps.

We are finding walleyes pretty shallow still. Rock piles in eight feet out to twenty two feet of water has been our depths we have been finding fish.

Slip bobbers with leeches and night crawlers are also producing a lot of nice eater walleyes.

During the early morning and late evenings pulling Shad Raps over by the Goose Flats has been the go to strategy.

The musky action has really picked up. Most of those fish are up on the shallow rocks. Bucktails and topwater baits are accounting for most of the fish caught.

Please practice safe handling as these fish are very vulnerable in with this warmer water. If the water temps get over eighty degrees target a different species to help protect the musky population.

The smallmouth bass are up on the rocks anywhere from three to twelve feet of water. Topwater baits, ned rigs and leeches under a float are all producing smallies.

Good luck out there on the water. Get out there make memories and enjoy all Leech lake has to offer.
