If you’re looking for a Lake Vermilion pike and walleye fishing report, you’ve come to the right place! Local guide Billy Rosner has been on the water, chasing both species of fish and has the most recent up-to-date fishing information on how to catch both:

“The walleyes are still biting up here on Lake Vermilion. Some days are better than others of course with these weather fronts rolling through. Our mayflies are hatching, and this is where your electronics are really coming into play. Get on the lake and find those mud transitions and you’re going to get some walleyes. Some are going to be a little bit shallower than you’d think. I like throwing slip bobbers in those areas. Leeches work great, too, or you can fish rigs through those areas with a half a crawler.

“The walleye bite is off a little bit, but this is a good chance to be a little more versatile. Maybe chase the northern pike out on the deeper weed lines. Out on the rocks, you can throw the Blue Fox inline spinnerbaits and some of your bigger plastics like the 5.5 inch Storm 360GT Searchbait. Pike are really good eating and the AnglingBuzz crew has some really good videos on how to fillet them up completely boneless. They make a great meal!

“Have a great week and stay safe out there.”

Many folks get locked into one particular species of fish when they head up north for a fishing adventure. While walleyes are king, the Lake Vermilion pike bite is excellent. There’s some great action for largemouth and smallmouth bass, too. The musky fishery is one of the best in the state of Minnesota.

We have more multi-species fishing report coming in from Lake Vermilion every week, so make sure to check back in next Tuesday to see how the bite has progressed. You can find all past and future reports right here at anglingbuzz.com.

Special thanks to Billy Rosner for providing us with some good, useful information. Hopefully it will help you catch a few more walleye and pike this week out on beautiful Lake Vermilion.
