Lake Vermilion Buzz Bite Report 6-24-2021

by

The northern pike bite on lake Vermilion has been going great over the past few weeks. We have been getting a lot a nice northern pike in the mid to upper thirties and you always have a chance at a forty plus inch fish.

Some of our better baits have been number four blue fox inline spinners. One thing I have done to improve the inline spinner a bit is by cutting off the treble hook and adding a VMC 2/0 hook. By doing this we can add trailers to the bait. We have been adding four inch Kalins grubs or paddle tails giving our inline spinners a little more action.

We have also been throwing Terminator spinnerbaits in the half ounce size for these pike as well. One thing we have noticed is spinnerbaits with willow blades are working better than ones with Colorado blades.

These northern pike have been in these thicker cabbage patches in four to eight feet of water.

There has been a pretty big mayfly hatch occurring on lake vermilion right now so that walleye bite has been sporadic. You can still catch fish on crawlers and leeches off those deeper breaks and on the mid lake structure.

Good luck out on the water and enjoy are the great things Lake Vermilion has to offer.
