Lake Sharpe & Oahe (SD) Fishing Report – Kent Hutcheson

by

The fishing season is winding down and as a result I am not on the water every day so these reports will be spaced around trips that I do or any real change in the bite — then I will update the report.

I recently took out some repeat customers: the Stumillers from Nebraska then the Ingels from Kansas and the Bassetts from Nebraska on Lake Sharpe. We did do a couple of days on Oahe too, but both these trips met very limited success and the bite on the big lake just doesn’t want to go. I had a great time with all of these party’s in nice weather.

Sharpe is still the best bet around Pierre with the bite from 10 FOW out to 20 FOW in some areas. Crawlers are still working, but jigs/minnows are coming into play more and more. Weekends still see a lot of boats on the water, so expect company when fishing the river.
