Lake Sakakawea Buzz Bite Report 12-13-2022
Overall the bite has been really good over on Lake Sakakawea. Ice conditions are extremely variable. Some areas out West have more than 12 inches of ice, but there is still some open water on the main lake. Please use extreme caution when venturing out.
Look for schools of walleyes in the base of the channel drops. Depending on where you are at on the West side of lake the base of the channel may be ten feet or as deep as twenty-five feet of water.
On the East side of the lake look for main lake structure like rock piles, main lake points, and humps in twenty to thirty feet of water.
Bite windows have been key. These fish have a lot of forage down there so you’ll want to make sure you are fishing during those primetime windows.
Rapala Jigging Raps, spoons, and Clam XXL drop jigs paired with a minnow have all been producing walleyes. Deadsticks and set lines have also been very productive.
