Grand Rapids Area Buzz Bite Report 8-30-2022

Water temperatures are in the low seventies and it feels like the fish are finally in their late summer patterns up here in the Grand Rapids area.

Smallmouth bass can be found on main lake points, rock piles, and off sunken humps in eight to eighteen feet of water.

Overall the bass have been pretty sluggish and negative during the day, but slowly dragging ned rigs along the bottom will produce some bites throughout the day. A slip bobber and leech will also work.

During the prime time bite windows late in the evening and early in the morning crankbaits, tubes, swimbaits, and ned rigs have all produced numbers of bass.

As the water temps continue to drop the smallmouth bass bite is really going to heat up in the Grand Rapids area.

Bluegills and crappies can be caught along the weedlines in six to ten feet during low light periods and in fifteen to twenty-five feet during the day. Small jigs paired with a plastic has been working great.

Walleyes can be found on main lake humps and saddle systems in twelve to twenty five feet of water. These fish can be caught on slip bobbers, Lindy Rigs or on Rapala Jigging Raps. We have also been seeing some nice fish up in the weeds in less than ten feet of water on main lake points.
