Devils Lake (ND) Buzz Bite Report 6-19-21

by

It has been real hot over here on Devils Lake in North Dakota. With the warm temperatures we have really seen some good weed growth over the past week and a decent amount of walleye and pike are relating to it.

Even with these warm temps we are still catching a lot of fish up shallow.

I have tried fishing the deeper structure but the bite out there hasn’t been very consistent. It just seems like majority of the fish are still up shallow.

The key has been finding that stained water up shallow. Right now there are a decent amount of spots on Devils Lake that have five to eight foot of visibility which is really clear for Devils lake standards, and we have found that the gamefish aren’t in that clear water.

Look and find where the wind has created mud lines along the shore line and you will find fish.

You will find walleyes, white bass, and pike along those wind blown shorelines with the stained water.

We have been using a lot of soft plastics. Swim jigs and jigs with paddle tails have been our go to. Snap jigging them back to the boat has triggered most of our strikes.

We have also been catching a few fish on crank baits that have a shad profile in that number five size.

We have also been having a lot of success slip bobbering the weed edges for walleyes. This has been anywhere from three to eight feet of water. We are using a real simple rig, just a plain hook with a couple split shots.

If you guys are looking to get out you can reach me through my website or you can give me a call on my cell.

Good luck out there on the water.
