Central Wisconsin Fishing Report – Phil Schweik

by

Fishing in the Central Wisconsin area has been pretty good this past week. We had a number of days where we did very well on panfish and walleyes. We also had a couple of good outings for musky too. Most of the fish are relating to submerged wood and weeds in 6 to 10 feet of water. A variety of baits have been working for the walleyes and panfish with live bait being the best so far. The muskies have been aggressively taking bucktails retrieved at a high rate of speed but in contrary our topwater bite has been by running very slow moving lures like Creepers and Hawg Wobblers.

Scott Lewandowsky and I had a 2 nd place finish at the Phillips Chain Musky Tournament last weekend with a big thank you to Elk River Custom Rods for keeping us up to date with great gear and outerwear for the tournament. If you are in need of a new fishing rod or reel please give these guys a call. They make the best rods around!

This past week we have seen an increase in activity at our bear bait stations by some really large bears. Some of them pushing well over the 300 pound mark. We have been mixing up our bait presentation to keep them interested and it seems to be working on not only drawing in new bears to our locations, but keeping the original bears in the vicinity as well.

Have a great week,
