Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 6-15-2022

As we approach Father’s Day weekend in the Brainerd Lakes Area, fishing and temperatures continue to heat up! Multiple species have been active in the area and most lakes have water temperatures between 65 – 70 degrees.

Walleyes have been cruising various depths and structures. During the day most of the fish have been coming in 18 to 28 feet of water on main lake humps, points, and along steep weed edges.  During low-light periods focus on depths between 12 to 18 feet of water and focus on weed beds or along large sand flats. Our most productive presentations has been Lindy rigging crawlers and leeches or using leeches under a slip bobber.

After dark, walleyes can be caught anywhere from 4 to 12 feet of water trolling crankbaits on sand flats or along the weed line.

Anglers can expect to find panfish, largemouth bass, and northern pike shallow in less that 14 feet of water. Look for new weed growth/ weed beds.

On Mille Lacs Lake walleyes can be caught on slip bobbers on hard to soft bottom transitional areas in 20 to 28 feet of water.

A few smallmouth bass can still be found up on beds, but a good number of fish have moved out onto the top of rock reefs in 8 to 16 feet of water.

Good luck fishing and happy hawg hunting!
