Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 12-17-2021

Fishable ice has been showing up on a bunch of smaller, shallower lakes in the area. We have been finding ice anywhere from four to six inches thick on these lakes.

Most of our larger lakes like Gull, the Whitefish Chain, Pelican and others aren’t quite there yet. Some areas may have three inches and other areas have less.

You must use extreme caution when venturing out on any lake. Bring your ice picks, spud bar, a rope, and throwable.

On the lakes that do have safe ice you can expect to find panfish cruising along the weedlines in six to twelve feet of water. There are also schools of panfish roaming the deeper basins in about twenty feet of water.

Small tungsten jigs paired with small plastics or live bait will get the job done!

You can also expect to catch a few bass and northern pike cruising along the weed lines so remember to bring your set lines.

If you guys are looking to get out fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area you can book a trip through my website or you can give me a call. Good luck out on the ice and be safe!
