Dustin Monson of Hawg Hunterz Guide Service gives his latest Buzz Bite report for the Brainerd Lakes Area on January 3rd, 2022.

Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 1-3-22

We got a ton of snow over the holidays so it has made foot travel very difficult. Most lakes in the area have anywhere from seven to twelve inches of ice.

That first ice walleye bite has really began to slow down, but you can still catch some fishing during those primetime periods early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

Focus on main lake points and main lake humps in seventeen to twenty-five feet of water.

The crappie fishing has continued to be really good over the past few weeks. We have been finding fish roaming the flats adjacent to the basins. Most of these fish have been suspended fifteen feet down in about twenty to twenty four feet of water.

The go-to presentations have been small tungsten jigs tipped with waxworms or plastics. A small spoon tipped with a minnow head is working as well.

The northern pike have also been biting well in and along the weedlines. Tip ups paired with a mid-sized sucker minnow are tough to beat.

If you guys are looking to get out fishing in the Brainerd Lakes Area you can book a trip through my website or you can give me a call. Good luck out on the ice and be safe!
