Brainerd Lakes Area Buzz Bite Report 1-28-22

Crappies have been roaming the basins and are biting well. During the day you can catch them twenty feet down in thirty-eight to forty-five feet of water.

After dark they can be caught in smaller holes in eighteen to twenty-five of water. They have been suspended all over the water column so don’t be afraid to jig up high from time to time.

Small spoons or tungsten jigs with small plastics are working great.

The walleye bite has been decent in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Focus on areas with hard to soft bottom transitions for the best success. Main lake points are also producing some nice fish.

During the day focus between twenty-four and thirty feet of water and during those primetime hours early in the morning snd late in the evening slide up to about eighteen to twenty-six feet of water.

Make sure to utilizes set lines. Fathead minnows on set lines or spoons tipped with minnow heads seem to be the best two presentations.

Aaron Murphy is a full time guide with Leisure Outdoor Adventures. "Murph" as he is called grew up on Lake Winnie and has been guiding since he was 16 years old. He has a passion for fishing and hunting and it shows each and every time he is in the boat chasing walleyes or in the woods chasing big bucks. During the spring and summer months you will find Murph fishing a variety of lakes from Leech Lake, Winnie, and throughout the Grand Rapids area. Murph brings a wealth of knowledge, experience both guiding and as a tournament fisherman, and a strong work ethic to the Leisure Outdoor Adventures team. He and his wife, Amber, reside in Cohasset with their three boys Macerae, Bauer, and Blaize. When he isn’t on the water or in the woods you will find Aaron spending his winters dedicating his time to his other major passion in life and that is the great sport of hockey. Murph will be leading the way in our expansion in the Grand Rapids Area as well as Eastern side of Leech Lake.
