Hey there! My name is Caleb Wistad. Growing up in the small town of Spooner, WI, my upbringing was steeped in the outdoor experience. Ever since I could follow my dad around through the woods and on the water, I have been obsessed with fishing, hunting and trapping. I still live here in Northwest Wisconsin with my lovely wife Morgan and 8-year-old son Jackson. I fish both open water and on the ice in such places as the Great Lakes, the Mississippi River and many inland lakes, streams, rivers and reservoirs, annually targeting over 30 different species of fish here in Wisconsin. I am committed to discovering new and unique ways to efficiently and consistently put patterns together to catch more fish.
As a full-time Master plumber, I sometimes have to get creative to feed my fishing addiction. In 2019 my wife suggested I start an Instagram account to post some of my fishing photos. I begrudgingly agreed and decided to name my account @hookedupwi. I soon found social media to be a great way to connect with lots of like-minded, awesome people when I couldn’t be out on the water or ice and my account grew quickly. One thing led to another and march of 2020 I filmed my first video and posted it to YouTube and was blown away by the response. I am now uploading weekly YouTube videos, posting daily to Instagram and Facebook, managing social media accounts for some great companies, and now, giving you guys up-to-date reports here on Angling Buzz!
I use a combination of knowledge, patterns, innovation, tackle and gear to find and catch more fish and I bring all those keys together for you on multiple platforms so you can learn to use these methods as well. I am also very involved with responding to anyone with questions on ice conditions, fishing reports, tactics that are working at the time, or just talking fishing so don’t be shy, drop by and say “hi” and let’s get hooked up!!

I began my career in the fishing industry at age 14 as a counselor at In-Fisherman's Camp Fish. I worked at Camp Fish for 8 summers. After college, I ran a fly shop and guiding outfit in Flagstaff, Arizona. My fishing career took many stops from 1990 through 2010. It included being the Executive Director of the National Professional Anglers Association, Tournament Director for the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail, and ended with a stop at Gemini Sport Marketing as a host of Pro's Pointers Television and Wired2Fish. I currently reside in Madison, SD and now fish in a different manner as a Pastor at the United Methodist Church. I still fish nonstop and I fish for all species that swim. But my deep down passion is fly fishing.
Charlie Nelson's passion for fishing is only surpassed by his love of flying. He is a recently retired Lieutenant Colonel, 26 year veteran, with the Minnesota Air National Guard. Charlie was a qualified F-16 instructor pilot with over 3500 hours in fighter aircraft. He also deployed to Iraq three times during his career.
His love of fishing started when as a young boy his parents owned a lake resort. Although he started his career fishing for sunfish, bluegills, and large mouth bass, many of his parent's customers would ask the then eight year old where the “hot spots” were. They were never disappointed.
After his parents sold the resort and bought a cabin on Island Lake north of Duluth, Charlie began his quest for walleyes in earnest. He spent countless hours in a 14 foot aluminum boat and a six horse Evinrude exploring the shoreline for schools of walleyes.
Charlie's first experience with fishing the St. Louis River came in 1980. He and a friend from the University of Minnesota-Duluth ventured onto Spirit Lake for the Minnesota fishing opener. Since then he has gained extensive experience and knowledge. He has taken that experience and knowledge into tournament fishing as well as guiding.
Charlie is Coast Guard, first aid/CPR certified and fully insured. He is married with three grown daughters who still enjoy fishing outings with their dad.
As an experienced summer and winter guide for Leisure Outdoor Adventures, Chuck brings a hard working/relentless attitude when it comes to fishing Leech Lake, Cass, Winnie, Lake Bemidji and Lake of the Woods.

Grant has been working in the sporting goods industry from the time he was able to stand on a box and scoop bait. There is little doubt as to where the passion for the business comes from. The decision to open Thousand Lakes was easy. Growing up fishing and hunting across the US and working for several sporting goods stores, Grant was able to develop his own philosophy and vision as to what a sporting goods store could be. A place where we sell what we use. A place where knowledge, information, and experiences can be shared. A place where you are greeted at the door by his best friend and constant companion, Layla. A place where you can go and talk to professional fishermen that are eager to know what your passions are and how we can share in that experience.
Thousand Lakes truly is a labor of love.
Over the past decade, Jason Mitchell has earned a legendary status as a professional hunting and fishing guide on North Dakota’s Devils Lake. Jason began his career as a guide at an early age and in the span of a decade, built one of the largest open water guide services in existence (Mitchell’s Guide Service head quartered out of Woodland Resort) and was a key member of Devils Lake’s famed Perch Patrol Guide Service during the winter. Mitchell also spent up to seventy five days each fall as a waterfowl hunting guide before expanding into television.
During that time, Mitchell logged thousands of hours on the water and ice, earning a reputation for not only being an extraordinary guide, hunter and angler but also a gifted writer, communicator and promoter. Jason’s credibility is grounded by a combination of extensive time on the water, a reputation for honesty and integrity.
During Mitchell’s career as a guide, he worked with a “who’s who” of outdoor writers, television show hosts and celebrities in the fishing and hunting industry. Mitchell had a well earned status of being one of the elite guides making a living from fishing and hunting. The hunting and fishing industry began to realize what Mitchell’s guide customers did long before, several writers and television hosts began to trust Mitchell as a guide they could count on for both strong editorial and video footage. Mitchell’s experience and time on the water or in the field is hard to duplicate. “A step into Jason Mitchell’s boat makes any angler a much better fishermen because Jason is so in tuned to what is happening on the water and is such a masterful teacher,” explains veteran outdoor writer Mark Strand. While Mitchell’s reputation as a guide, hunter and angler may be recognized, what continues to drive his popularity is an uncommon modesty and humbleness that is refreshing to many viewers.

Like most of you reading this, I love to fish, plain and simple. Born in Hayward, WI, I've been blessed with many opportunities that have led me to a career on the water. As is the case with most kids, I was introduced to fishing by my father, a retired educator and coach who always made sure a trip to Canada or the Boundary Waters was scheduled at the end of every school year. My grandmother Doris was also instrumental in encouraging my passion and interest for all things fishing.
You see, Doris fished, and she loved to eat what she caught. Bluegills were of special interest to Doris, and some of my fondest and earliest memories on the water were spent with her below the Nelson Lake dam. We always cleaned what we caught after an obligatory stop at West’s Dairy for the best ice cream cone ever made.
In 2013, the decision was made to begin guiding full time and devote all energy to my career on the water. I became a credentialed U.S. Coast Guard Charter Captain and certified to guide on waters of the Great Lakes that I've fished for many years. This includes Chequamegon Bay and the St. Louis River-Superior Harbor in addition to the inland lakes I've been guiding on since 1992. The continued support from my family, friends, and faithful customers has made it possible for me to pursue my passion. You've all helped me in so many ways. There aren’t enough words to express how I appreciate having you in my corner. The relationships I've made on the water are priceless, and I don’t take any of you for granted.

Raised in Madison, Wisconsin I grew up primarily chasing Bass and Pike on the "Mad-Chain" and the Wisconsin River every moment possible. First wade fishing, to canoe, to jon boat, then to my first v-hull guide boat in 1995… where I started "living the dream"… fishing for a living. Only after selling my first car, a 1969 Chevy Chevelle to buy that first guide boat by the way!
The years went fast while spent on the water and working at various sport shops. Increasing exposure through giving seminars, writing for Esox Angler Magazine, and being a featured guest on a few of the Midwest most acclaimed fishing programs such as Lindner’s Angling Edge, The Next Bite, and John Gillispie's Waters and Woods have added to my fishing carrier.
In addition, I also started Lee Lures Surface Baits. What I have strived to do is to make smaller numbers of higher quality wooden lures in classic muskie catching actions. Each is made one by one, and completely assembled by me only.
In 2005, I relocated my summer and fall business to the Muskie Mecca of Mille Lacs Lake, Minnesota, which was certainly a milestone. The "Big Pond" is perhaps ones best chance of catching a forty pound plus fish. Capitalizing on this unique lake was a reputation making decision. As they say "timing is everything".
Some of the largest muskies taken in recent years have made their way into our boat including some seventy fish over fifty inches, with many over forty pounds, and several breaking the fifty pound mark. The largest specimen in the boat was a 55.5" x 27.5" fish, which flirted with the current Minnesota State record of 54 pounds. That fish was released to assure that a record fish would swim in those waters.
Fast forward to 2011, which marks the beginning of Big Fish 365 Television. Partnering up with Milwaukee, WI fishing guide Eric Haataja and producer Jim Steinmetz, we spent the year filming our first season of the show. Proving difficult with each of us having full-time jobs we managed to complete a seasons worth of shows.
January 8th 2012 marks the debut of my thirty-year dream of hosting a fishing show, Big Fish 365. Only time will tell where the show will take us from here. Hopefully we can take it to the next level of sharing our passion for the sport and taking the viewers on our adventures.
Living in Washburn, WI., I grew up fly fishing for Chequamegon Bay Smallmouth Bass and chasing Steelhead along Lake Superior’s South Shore. Looking to continue to support, promote and protect a sustainable catch and release fishery on the bay, I’ve followed my calling to share the great waters of the Bay with all anglers whether pursing smallmouth with a fly rod or on light tackle. I'm always looking for parallels between saltwater flats fishing and fishing Lake Superior's open water and hope to give customers a unique perspective on shallow water smallmouth bass fishing. He probably doesn't remember, but Roger showed me how to tie a Clouser Minow when I was about 9 years old, which basically started my fly fishing addiction, and love for shallow water Smallmouth Bass angling. As a freelance writer and photographer, my work has appeared in The Fly Fish Journal, The Drake Magazine, Eastern Fly Fishing Magazine, and other publications.

Nick Miltimore is an avid outdoorsman and full time fishing guide/promoter with Walleyedan’s Guide Service out of Nisswa, Minnesota.
Competing in local walleye tournaments, fishing club derbies, guiding full time, and just fishing for his own pleasure,
Nick spends most of his year on the water and ice.
His love of beingon the water is a result of growing up around it. He grew up in the heart of the Land of 10,000 Lakes, the Brainerd Lakes Area, and began going on fishing trips at a young age. By the time he was ten years old he already had a 20-pound Lake Trout to his credit along with his picture in the local newspaper for a giant largemouth that he landed.
He was hooked and his passion began to grow and hasn’t stopped yet.
Nick started his professional guiding career at the age of 20 and still resides in the Brainerd Lakes Area with his wife.
He thoroughly enjoys all of his time on the open water and ice chasing all species of freshwater fish but has a real love for walleyes and considers himself primarily a walleye addict.
He enjoys a variety of techniques to keep putting fish in the boat or on the ice throughout the season with his favorite being live bait rigging big chubs in the fall.
Nick has a strong passion for all things fishing and the fishing industry.
He provides an honest, hard working, professional approach to the relationships he builds in this industry and has the highest regards for them.
Promoting their products is important to him and he takes great pride in consistently doing so on and off the water.

I grew up spending my summers in the Brainerd lakes area with my grandparents at their trailer on the lake. Worked a few summers at Breezy Point at the boat marina while in high school. I have done some guiding in the Brainerd area – Mille Lacs, Leech Lake and Red Lake. I have fished all across Minnesota from the trout streams of the south east, the shallow water lakes that border Iowa all the way north to lake of the woods and east to the Mississippi river. Walleyes are my main passion with pan fish through the ice a close second. I have participated in tournaments on the Mississippi river and Mille Lacs with the Minnesota Tournament Trail. I have a huge passion for the outdoors. When I'm not fishing you can probably bet I'm out hunting.
