Green Lake, WI Buzz Bite Report 10-15-2021

by | Oct 19, 2021 | 0 comments

We are definitely starting to see changes from summer to fall over here in Central Wisconsin and on Green Lake. The water temperatures are dropping and the turnover will happen fairly soon.

Overall the fishing has been good and the smallmouth bass bite has been really good on Green Lake anywhere from eight to twelve feet of water or from twenty to twenty five feet of water.

You can find fish along the deep weed line and along rocky shores and points, or on deepwater rock humps. The shallower fish have been more spread out, but those deeper fish are really starting to school up together.

We’ve been fishing anything that resembles minnows. Spinner baits and crankbaits have been working well in that shallower water and a jig and paddle tail, or a drop shot will work on those deeper fish.

As the water temperatures continue to drop in Green Lake the baits you’ll be using will change so keep that in mind in for the coming weeks.

One big key to our success on Green Lake for smallmouth bass has been fluorocarbon leaders. The water clarity is really good, so using a fluorocarbon leader is a must. Use a leader that is roughly six feet or longer, and anything between eight and twelve pound test will work.

That is my latest report, if you guys are looking to get out you can reach me through my website or on my cell. Good luck out there on the water!
