We have had a fantastic week of fishing up here in Northern Wisconsin. With that cold front we had a lot of the lakes around the Hayward area cooled down into the low seventies.
The walleye fishing has been great all across Northern Wisconsin and in the Hayward area. We have been getting a lot of fish out on the rock piles, humps and rocky points in twenty to twenty five feet of water.
Power corking with leeches has been the best way to target them.
As far as the smallmouth bass bite goes over here in Northern Wisconsin, we have kind of been finding them all over the place. You have to work for fish, but your still able to get some nice fish throughout the day. The real key has been covering water.
Some have been up in the five to six foot rock areas. Others have been out deep in around twenty feet of water on the rock reefs. You can catch these smallmouth bass a number of ways but our go to’s have been Ned rigs and Neko rigs for the shallower fish. Out deep use tubes, heavier ned rigs and slip bobbers.
The south shore of Lake Superior has been hit or miss. Some days you’ll get a few nice fish but the bite has been very sporadic. Anglers are catching brown trout, splake, coho salmon, and the occasional king salmon. You can also catch some nice walleyes trolling as well.
I hope everybody’s able to get out on the water this week catch a bunch of fish and have a great time! If your looking to get out fishing in Northern Wisconsin you can reach me through my website or cell.
