Northern Wisconsin Buzz Bite Report 6-17-2021

by

The bite in Northern Wisconsin has been going strong over the past week even with the hot temperatures.

The smallmouth bass are all done spawning and can be found on some shallower rock piles or on that first break. Topwater baits, swim jigs and plastics like ned rigs and light tubes are a great way to target these fish.

There has also been a great topwater northern pike bite around the Hayward area lakes. Buzz baits and whopper ploppers are working well. Focus on areas with good cabbage growth. If you are unable to get them to go on topwater, casting spinnerbaits or crankbaits along the weed line is a sure bet.

The walleye action continues to be good in Northern Wisconsin.

On those clear bodies of water we have been focusing on those deeper weed edges in like fifteen to sixteen feet of water and on those stained lakes we have been finding fish in six to eight feet of water.

The best bait has been leeches. Slip bobbers, jigging or Lindy rigging is producing the most amount of fish. The bite has definitely shifted away from minnows and crawlers.

You can still catch walleyes on crawlers and minnows but leeches have been the best.
