We have been out here on Lake Superior and it has been cold the past two weeks and that has been affecting the fish. You know we are still picking off a few here and there, but for the most part fishing has been tough with this polar vortex we having been facing.

The fish that we have caught have came off our set lines and jigging Clam Leech Flutter Spoons and other spoons tipped with minnows. We have been working these baits a few feet off the bottom.

We have been getting a few Lake Superior Brown Trout, Splake, and whitefish. Some anglers are running into a few walleye and pike as well. It has just been a mixed bag. As the temperature begins to rise these fish should pick up quite a bit and anglers will be able to spread out and do some hole hooping.

The St. Louis river is starting to get some walleyes moving in. More and more will start to make the push into the river as we get closer to the end of the season so that’s gonna be something you will want to keep your eye on.

As far as inland fishing goes around the Duluth area guys are catching some panfish in the basins. The crappies and bluegills are being caught on small tungsten jigs with wax worms, spikes, or plastics. The primetime windows have been the best bite windows.

Some pike and bass can be caught along the weediness on tip ups with sucker minnows or shiners.
