Lake Superior Buzz Bite Report 1-13-2021

by

Captain Jarrid Houston of Houston’s Guide service gives his Lake Superior Buzz Bite Report.

We have been getting a nice mixed bag of fish out on Chequamegon Bay on Lake Superior. Brown trout, coho salmon, walleye, smelt, whitefish and splake are all being caught in decent numbers.

Jigging spoons tipped with minnow heads and set lines have been the ticket. Bright colors like pinks, silver flash and blue have been our best baits. For the smelt, a small tungsten jig tipped with a minnow head or waxxies will get it done.

One big key for us has been spreading out and covering water. You really want to spread out your set lines and if you do you will see better results. Another big thing has been getting away from the crowds. If you are able to find a decent area by yourself the bite should be really good.

As also be safe out there on the ice. The conditions can change very quickly on Lake Superior so make sure to pay attention to the wind direction. Good luck and Tight lines!
