Take an Adult Fishing Tournament (WI) – Gary Engberg

The 17th annual Take an Adult Fishing Tournament was recently held at the Wilderness Fish and Game Store in Sauk City, Wisconsin. This tournament, organized by Yuri Ingeborg, attracted 70 teams and over 100 participants. It was a no alcohol, no tobacco, and no drug tournament, focused on providing a fun and safe environment for everyone involved.

A Successful Event

The tournament was a great success, with many fish being caught and a fantastic turnout. The weather in Wisconsin was beautiful, and the crowd was enthusiastic. The event was not only about fishing but also about creating a memorable experience for the kids. Yuri Ingeborg, the organizer, expressed his love for hockey and how he wanted to make sure the kids had a great time.

“We had 70 kids come out, and it was a great turnout. Kids can fish anywhere, whether they have a 21-foot Ranger boat or just want to go sit on a bunch of fish from shore,” said Yuri. “We had all the price categories to make sure every kid had a chance to win something. It was a day focused on the kids, and it was wonderful to see them having fun.”

The tournament has been an annual event for 17 years, and Yuri plans on continuing the tradition. “We usually have an entry form about a month before the event, which takes place on the last Saturday in July every year,” he explained. “We had over 100 kids and 70 teams this year, and the parents and kids interacted all day. It was a lot of fun.”

A Fun and Safe Environment

One of the main goals of the tournament was to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone involved. The event was strictly no alcohol, no tobacco, and no drugs. This ensured that the focus remained on the kids and their fishing experience.

Yuri emphasized the importance of allowing the kids to take the lead during the tournament. “Sometimes, the adults take the front seat in the boat, and the kids get left in the back,” he said. “But in this tournament, we wanted to make sure the kids were the focus. It’s their day to shine.”

Looking Forward to Next Year

After the success of this year’s tournament, Yuri is already looking forward to next year’s event. “We plan on doing it again next year,” he said. “It’s been a great tradition, and we want to continue it. We’ll see you in ’92!”

Congratulations to the Winners

In addition to the overall success of the tournament, there were also winners in various categories. One of the winners was Andy, who placed second in the bass competition. When asked about his strategy, Andy said, “I used a nightcrawler, and I was out early in the morning. It paid off!”

Andy also mentioned that he had a great time swimming during the tournament.
