Lake Sakakawea (ND) Fishing Report – Matt Liebel

by

The bite continues on Lake Sakakawea, we are experiencing some hot weather but the bite continues to follow suit!

Look for fish to move a little bit deeper with walleyes being caught out to 35 feet. Although when the wind blows fish are being caught in less than 5 feet!

Berkley Flicker Shads and Flicker Minnows continue to be the hot crankbaits. Macks’s smile blades and a Berkley fusion 19 slow turn hook with a half crawler has been the best bait rig. Crawlers are putting more numbers in the boat but leeches cannot be left at home. I love a jumbo leech for a big fish!

The central part of the lake is probably your best bet, but fish are being caught from both ends and everywhere in between.
